Is It Ever Now
We created this atmospheric and ambient music video to accompany the melodic song by Colin Smith, ‘Is It Ever Now’. The art direction was by Design Studio Maurice Redmond and the animation and production were by myself.
The hardest challenge was creating an animation that has the aesthetic of a frame by frame animation but was created in a 3D space.
To get a human quality I added roughen edges, paper textures and then lowered the frame rate in post-production.
Each composition was edited so any frame of the animation could be later turned in to a poster.
We mixed some hand-drawn frame by frame animation into the video, to make it appear more authentic to frame-by-frame animation.
We used C4D to get the physics of the movement of the car and later add the colour, strokes and texture in post-production.
The different images sent back and forth throughout the project between me and Maurice Redmond the art director.
